Scorecard is now available for purchase through the Mac App Store in addition to the option to purchase directly from us.  The MAS version is exactly the same as the one available for download from us and we plan to keep both of them in sync for future releases.

Rivet 2.3 was released today.  You can now specify an image to use as a thumbnail instead of the QuickLook generated thumbnail.  To set the image you want to use, add a custom icon to the movie file.  Do this by getting info on the file in the finder and then pasting the image you want to use onto the icon in the top left corner of the info pane.  Rivet will now load this icon instead of generating a thumbnail with QuickLook for you.

Thumbnails have also been enhanced with a new system that manages their caching to provide better performance and disk utilization.

Navigation has also been enhanced with the addition of smart sorting.  Titles will no longer include the common words the, a, and an when sorting.

In addition to Xbox 360 and PS3 support, Rivet 2.3 adds official support for the CEIVA Pro 80 picture frames from CEIVA Logic Inc., Denon audio/video receivers, and Plex Media Center for OS X.  Rivet 2.3 also adds a number of speed and performance enhancements that  greatly improve parsing of the users media libraries and streaming.

Rivet 2.2.3 was released today. It fixes the Snow Leopard issue where a thumbnail was not always generated.  It also fixes the issue with streaming MP4 video files to the PS3.  They should now play correctly.

Update:  This post was originally for 2.2.2.  We had a build error with that version that prevented it from running on most user’s Macs.  2.2.3 is an update to fix that issue.

Scorecard 2.2 is now available for download from Cynical Peak’s website for both Mac and Windows! Scorecard 2.2 adds the ability to export your statistics to HTML.  The index page will now automatically show a “Stats” tab with your current stats using all rounds played after your master marker date.

I also want to give an update on Scorecard for the iPhone.  A new version is coming, hopefully soon.  We submitted a new version of it to Apple approximately one month ago that contains a number of bug fixes.  Unfortunately it is still in app review limbo.  In that time frame, it has been rejected once due to the reviewer’s Mac not showing up for syncing.  So it was rejected for a published feature not working.  The reviewer obviously had something not configured correctly, probably their firewall, because as all of you know, syncing has working since the first release last December.  The new version was re-submitted right away and we’re still waiting for it’s approval.

Good news! Shortly after posting this I received the email from the app store notifying us that the new version has been approved.  It usually takes a few hours before it actually shows up in the store from when we receive the email.  So look for it later tonight or tomorrow in the app store or in your iTunes updates.

It’s just about time for the new cat to be let loose.  Apple has announced that Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will go on sale on Friday, August 28th in both single user and 5-User Family Packs.  I’d highly recommend everyone upgrading to it.  It runs great and you will see better performance with it. The only downside is that it is intel only, so those of you still running PPC Macs are left out with this release.

The big question that always comes up at OS upgrade time is will my software work on it.  We’re happy to announce that all of Cynical Peak’s applications will run correctly on Snow Leopard. We’ve been running the developer builds for awhile now and have test all of our apps on it.  Cyndicate and Scorecard have no known issues with it.

Rivet will also run and work correctly on it, but there is one small known issue right now.  For some video files, QuickLook is not correctly returning a thumbnail for it.  So when viewing you list of videos, you might get some generic placeholder images.  We’re currently working with Apple on the issue and hope to have it resolved soon.  The issue does not affect streaming of any media and will not prevent you from using Rivet like you normally do.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Support and we’ll get them answered for you right away.

Rivet 2.2.1 was released today. It adds a option to turn off generating thumbnails. It also fixes an issue with the thumbnail caching.  The cache wasn’t also being used first after starting Rivet.  So you should see a little bit better performance the first time you view a folder after launching Rivet.

Scorecard 2.1 is now available for download from Cynical Peak’s website for both Mac and Windows! Scorecard 2.1 changes the way nine-hole rounds are matched for stats to provide a more accurate picture of your abilities.

In Scorecard 2.0, 9-hole rounds were paired to form an 18-hole round for all stat calculations with the restriction that the rounds had to be played within 14 days of each other. A nine-hole round that did not have a round to pair with was then dropped from the stat calculation.

In Scorecard 2.1, the nine-hole pairing only occurs when viewing “All Holes.” If you set the stats to only view the front nine, back nine, par 3, par 4, par 5, or an individual hole number the rounds are no longer paired and no rounds will be dropped. The change provides you with a more accurate representation of your entire game play and it also fixes a few anomalies and bugs that the old system presented in some cases.

Changes in Scorecard Mac:

  • Changed the method used to pair rounds for stats. The change will provide more accurate stats when mixing nine- and 18-hole rounds by allowing all rounds to be included when not viewing all holes.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a stat error in some cases where nine- and 18-hole rounds are mixed.
  • Fixed displaying the high and low eclectics.
  • Fixed the default update URL.

Changes in Scorecard Windows:

  • Changed the method used to pair rounds for stats. The change will provide more accurate stats when mixing nine- and 18-hole rounds by allowing all rounds to be included when not viewing all holes.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a stat error in some cases where nine- and 18-hole rounds are mixed.
  • Fixed an issue which in some cases could cause an error when saving an edited course.
  • Inactive rounds are no longer included in stats and graphs
  • Fixed an issue with wrong HTML formatting with negative round differentials
  • Improved the error handling when trying to export to a location without proper write permissions
  • Removed the requirement for having the Microsoft Chart Controls installed. The controls are now included within the app instead
  • Users are no longer required to install Bonjour for Windows to enable syncing with iPhone. Uses Bonjour from iTunes instead.

Scorecard 2.0.1 for the iPhone is now available.  You can download it from iTunes.  Scorecard 2.0.1 for iPhone fixes a number of issues from 2.0.  The main one being the number of holes played setting not always being preserved.  It also fixes the font issue with notes and a possible crash if you switch the round from being 18-holes to 9-holes.

If you enjoy using Scorecard, please make sure to rate it on iTunes.  We’re fighting an uphill battle with people giving it a 1 star rating due to not understanding that it’s a companion app that we are providing, for free, to our desktop users.   Thank you for any ratings or reviews that you give.
